Music Review: Kites

I listened to my copy of the 'Kites' CD today, a few times before I decided to write this reviw. 'Kites' is not an album that everyone will like right away. It doesnt have any tunes that make you want to get up dance.

The 1st track is called 'Zindagi do pal ki.'  It's a moderately slow track and has a litle bit of an Eastern and Western mix to it. It's sung by KK and definately one that hooks on after hearing it twice. I loove the part 'intezaar kab tak..' KK's voice is just so captivating!! There's also a remix of this song on the album. The remix is actually pretty good, and I like it more than the original version. A little more upbeat and catchy.

The 2nd track is called 'Dil kyun yeh mera.' This is the first track that was promoted for the film. This song is definately my favorite one on the album. The sound of the flute is mesmorizing and KK hits the spot yet again. This song makes you wish that Rajesh Roshan would compose more music! The remix of this song is also included in the album and soooo addicting! Upbeat and something you can listen to when your not in the mood for anything too slow.

The 3rd track is called 'Tum bhi ho wahi.' This track couldn't keep me interested from the get-go. The lyrics arent there for me but the sound isnt too bad. Still nothing that I would go out of my way to really listen to. The remix to this song isnt that much better.

The 4th track is 'Kites in the sky' and the one everyone has been anticipating the release of. This is Hrithik Roshan's debut as a singer. The song is in English and Spanish. The first 45seconds of the song is in Spanish, and then Hrithik takes over. As a singer, Hrithik really isnt that bad. He does pretty well for a song that is sooo slow with minimal background music. But again, not a track that I like that much.

And finally, track number 5, 'Fire.' Now this is definately going to be the dance number of the film. Hrithik will is going to light the dance floor on "fire" with this track. This track was awesome from the second I heard it. If not any other song in this album, this one should be the one to make you want to see this film.

Overall:
'Kites' is a good album. It's not going to make a big bang right from the start but it will do pretty good after everyone gives it a chance. Not sure if it'll keep me hooked for two months until the film releases though.

My favorites:
'Dil Kyun Yeh Mera'
'Zindagi do pal ki'
'Fire'

I give this album a 3.5 out of 5.
