Music Review: Kites

I listened to my copy of the 'Kites' CD today, a few times before I decided to write this reviw. 'Kites' is not an album that everyone will like right away. It doesnt have any tunes that make you want to get up dance.

The 1st track is called 'Zindagi do pal ki.'  It's a moderately slow track and has a litle bit of an Eastern and Western mix to it. It's sung by KK and definately one that hooks on after hearing it twice. I loove the part 'intezaar kab tak..' KK's voice is just so captivating!! There's also a remix of this song on the album. The remix is actually pretty good, and I like it more than the original version. A little more upbeat and catchy.

The 2nd track is called 'Dil kyun yeh mera.' This is the first track that was promoted for the film. This song is definately my favorite one on the album. The sound of the flute is mesmorizing and KK hits the spot yet again. This song makes you wish that Rajesh Roshan would compose more music! The remix of this song is also included in the album and soooo addicting! Upbeat and something you can listen to when your not in the mood for anything too slow.

The 3rd track is called 'Tum bhi ho wahi.' This track couldn't keep me interested from the get-go. The lyrics arent there for me but the sound isnt too bad. Still nothing that I would go out of my way to really listen to. The remix to this song isnt that much better.

The 4th track is 'Kites in the sky' and the one everyone has been anticipating the release of. This is Hrithik Roshan's debut as a singer. The song is in English and Spanish. The first 45seconds of the song is in Spanish, and then Hrithik takes over. As a singer, Hrithik really isnt that bad. He does pretty well for a song that is sooo slow with minimal background music. But again, not a track that I like that much.

And finally, track number 5, 'Fire.' Now this is definately going to be the dance number of the film. Hrithik will is going to light the dance floor on "fire" with this track. This track was awesome from the second I heard it. If not any other song in this album, this one should be the one to make you want to see this film.

Overall:
'Kites' is a good album. It's not going to make a big bang right from the start but it will do pretty good after everyone gives it a chance. Not sure if it'll keep me hooked for two months until the film releases though.

My favorites:
'Dil Kyun Yeh Mera'
'Zindagi do pal ki'
'Fire'

I give this album a 3.5 out of 5.

Show-stoppin!!

Deepika Padukone also walked in the Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week. She was the show stopper for 2 top designer G Pia Fleming.

“It’s great to be back with the same people I started off with and to know that they feel the same way for me. No one has changed. It’s the same make-up artistes, same designers, same models and choreographers. So it’s really nice to come back to a place from where I started off.”

Can we say hottt!?

I actually looove this dress!!
These are the only pics I could find that were clear enough to share with you guys :-(

Badmaash!

Are you guys looking forward to this movie? The trailer came out this weekend, and now I'm looking even more forward to it. Yash Raj films. Shahid Kappor. Anushka Sharma. Hit? ya Flop?

Here's a link to watch the movie trailer:

Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week

This mother daughter duo walked the ramp together for 'Rocky S Creations' at the Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week and looked gorgeous!

Hema Malini looks flawless in a blue and brown sari. Esha on the other hand, looks out of place in this bridal red and grey lengha. They could have made her look wayyy better. Done something nicer with her hair and at least a little necklace or even earrings. The spagetti straps look really odd on her broad shoulders. To me, it makes her look fat. Maybe some cuff sleeves or something sleeveless would have really pulled the lengha all together.
The flaps over her stomach makes her look like she has a flabby stomach and not enough support for her breast. Dont you agree? The whole top of the lengha, fits her very weird.

Beautifullllll... arent they?? Hema Malini is definately one of the most flawlessly beautiful women in the world. She's aged amazingly.
At least Esha's makeup wasnt that bad. What happened to anorexic Esha? Like the one in Dhoom.

Girl.. get that body back!!

Sing your heart out!

May 21, 2010 can not come fast enough! The movie release of 'KITES!!' Butttt in the mean time, I cant wait until the music is released!!' I reallyyyy want to hear the song that Hritik sang, I'm curious if he has a hidden talent that we dont know about already.

Only one song is out right now and it's the song called 'Dil Kyun' and I love it!
Here's the promo link so you can watch and listen. Buttt brace yourself.... because Hritik looks HOTTT!! :-)

Did you guys watch last years IIFA awards? Hrithik sang a little bit of a song then, but not enough to prove that he comes from a musical family haha. I hope its worth the wait.

Here's a link to where you can watch Hritik Roshan singing at the 2009 IIFA Awards.

Cover babes.

You know.. I honestly used to like Preity Zinta's overall look a lot. But that spark has been lost in recent years. Here's her on the March cover of 'People' Magazine.

She's definately someone I look up to. Super busy and all her business ventures lately. Just something missing lately........maybe a film or two?

Here's another cover babe that I'm starting to like more, the more I see her in films. She's a pretty good actress and has some cute roles!

Here's Deepika Padukone on the March cover of 'Savvy' Magazine

Anarkali

I am a hugeee fan of the Anarkali suit. I really want a black one now, and I truely fell in love with one particular one. What do you think of them?
At one point in time, a bunch of Bollywood actresses wore them beautifully to all kinds of events around town.

Who do you think wore it best out of these beauties?

My pick? I think it fits Aishwarya Rai perfectly. She looks so graceful and elegant.

On that note....

Since I'm on the subject about total hotty Ranbir Kapoor, thought I would share some pictures from the catwalk that he did with Katrina Kaif.

These pictures are from Rohit Bal's Grande Finale for the Wills Lifestyle fashion Week in Delhi.

I wish my man would rock that Sherwani. Total hottness.

Player's Photoshoot.

m sure most of you already know, but I am definately a big fan of Ranbir Kapoor. He's a really good actor and just so darn Charming
He was recently announced to be the new Brand Ambassador for 'John Player's Clothing' line. Previously,  Hritik Roshan was the known face of the brand.

Here are a few pictures of the old Hritik Roshan as a 'Player'

WOW is all I can say. Is it getting hot in here or what!?

and now..... introducing.. the new face of John Players..

Ranbir Kapoor

Soooo...  what do you think? Who do you perfer?

Oh-Baby!!

First off, Congrats to Karishma Kapoor for giving birth to a beautiful baby boy!

This is her second child. She first gave birth to a baby girl, Sumaira who is about 7 years old now. The Kapoor family is ecstatic to welcome a precious little baby boy into their family.

Secondly, I would like to say congrats to Kajol! They are also expecting their second child! They already have a daughter named Nysa. Hopefuly she takes really good care of herself during this pregnancy. She's had lots of trouble in her past with pregnancies.

C O N G R A T S !

Fear This Fact-or!

If you didnt already know, India has its own version of 'Fear Factor' called 'Khatron ke khiladi.' It's basically all the same stuff, just with an 'indian twist' to it. I'm not a big fan, but wanted to share this with you. The new host this season will be Priyanka Chopra. She's hosting the special IPL (Indian Premiere League) edition of the show on Colors with 13 famous cricketers (both Indian and International players).

Really? First off, I don't think of Priyanka as this big, tough girl. So I dont really understand why she was asked to host. But then again, maybe I just think like that because I dont really like her. Dont get me wrong. She's a good actress, just not one of my favorites.

What do you guys think? Would you watch the show just because of her?

'Time pass'

I've actually been waiting for a new Bollywood music album which has good, easy listening type of music. And I have to say, Paathshaala definately serves that. If you want something nice to listen to on a lazy Sunday afternoon, then this is the album for you. A good 'time pass' kind of album, I guess.
On the whole, I would say this is a good album put out by first time composer and lyricist, Hanif Sheikh. There are at least 3 songs that I think most people will like. 'Aye Khuda,' 'Bekaraar' and  'Kushnuma.'

Personally I give this album, 3.5 out of 5.

What do you guys think?

Still in love

Like usual, as I'm studying, I'm listening to the radio. And I have to say, one of my favorite songs from this past year is 'Shukran Allah' from Kurbaan. I have to turn it up everytime it comes on the radio. It's such a beautiful song. Just makes you want to fall in love....that is..
.........if you're not already in love :-)

Nazron se nazrein mili toh, jannat si mehki fizaaye
Lab ne joh lab chhu liye toh, aasmaan se barsi duwaayein
Aisi apni mohabbat, aisi ruhe ibaadat
Hum pe meherbaan do jahaan

Havent heard the song yet? No worries, here's the link so you can watch, listen.. and fall in love!

Lux-ous Katrina!

So just a little while back, Katrina Kaif was named the new brand ambassador for the new 'Lux Purple Lotus & Cream' Soap. It's the new popular soap infused with anti-aging products.

I dont know about you guys, but I actually really want to try this! When I first heard the name 'Lotus,' it just made me think of something that smells really fresh and makes your skin feel good. I'm looking forward to trying it out. I'll let you guys know what I think about it.

Here's the link for the ad if you havent already seen it. It's worth the watch. I looove all the purples!

Current Song on Replay

So I'm not sure if you guys have listened to the songs from the new film 'Karthik Calling Karthik' but I'm really liking one of the songs. It's called 'Jaane ye kya hua' ..I know I'm a little late with this one. I think it finallly grew onto me. What are your first thoughts of the song?
*ing: Deepika Podukone and Farhan Akhtar.

Former Miss India

Does anyone else find Dia Mirza charming? There's just something about her, I can't quite put my finger on it. And not many other people can agree with me, but still, there's a certain purity and softness. Maybe I'm wrong, but she has an elegance, a different kind of poise in her photographs. She did this photoshoot recently for a magazine and I thought I should share these pictures with you guys.

yay or nay? comments? opinions?

Because I found it funny...

So here is something I just had to share with you guys, just something that I found hilariousss!!

Have you guys heard of the 'Golden Kela Awards?' ...no? Welllll then please, let me tell you all about them haha. Basically, they're awards given to the WORST of everything in Bollywood cinema. From worst film to worst actor to worst on-screen pair. So you ready for this years winners?

*drum roll please*

And the winners are:

Worst Actress:   Kareena Kapoor   for 'Kambhakkt Ishq'
Worst Actor:   Harman Baweja    for 'What's your Rashee'
Bas Kijie Bahut Ho Gaya award:  Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar
Baawra Ho Gaya Hai Ke award:  Both Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards
Worst Supporting Actor:  Ranvir Shorey for 'Chandni Chowk to China'
Worse Supporting Actress:  Deepika Padukone for Chandni Chowk to China
Worst Film:  'Kambakht Ishq'
Worst Director:  Ashutosh Gowariker
Worst Pair award:  Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor for 'Dil Bole Hadippa'
Black Award for Emotional Blackmail:  Amitabh Bachchan for 'Paa'
Dara Singh Award for Worst Accent:  Abhishek Bachchan in 'Delhi-6'

Sooo.. what do you guys think? I have to disagree with a few. First off, I dont think Kareena Kapoor was THAT bad in Kambhakkt Ishq. I've only seen the movie once, which was premier night last year. I'll have to rewatch the movie I guess. Second, I actually like Madhur Bhandarkar. His films are different. Next, worst film, Kambhakkt Ishq? Really? I mean there were far worse films this past year. Not that I really liked Kambhakkt Ishq or anything but I mean come on, was it truely THAT bad? And for Worst pair award, I cant believe they chose Rani and Shahid. I love both of them and I dont think they look that bad on screen. A more worse pair on screen would have to be Shahid and Priyanka in Kaminay. Or even SRK and Kareena Kapoor in Billu Barber (was that last year?) Anyways, point being, I dont think they are THAT bad of a onscreen pair.
As for the rest of the awards? I have to totallyyy agree. I think the biggest FAIL was Chandni Chowk to China. I didnt even watch the film. But I didnt hear ONE person say that they liked the movie.
Comments? Opinions?

Why Kites?

Have you guys been wondering why Rakesh Roshan would name his film Kites? Especially when we dont see anything to do with Kites in the movie previews? Well he finally decided to tell the world. Here are two quotes directly from Producer Rakesh Roshan and Director Anurag Basu.

“The idea for Kites came to me when I was gazing at the sky and saw two kites flying,”. It looked very romantic. It was very intriguing – the way they came close, played, almost embraced each other and then drew apart. Unaware that someone else was pulling the strings and could cut them loose. I sat down and penned a story around this idea.” - Rakesh Roshan.

“Kites is a metaphor in the film. Kites fly against the wind and not with it, stronger the wind blows, higher they fly,” - added in Anurag Basu.

Houseful

Anyone else looking forward to this next multi-starrer movie!? I sure am!! Everyone is looking super hott in every single one of the wallpapers or video still pictures I see from this movie!

*ing: Arjun Rampal, Jiah Khan, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Podukone, Lara Dutta, Ritesh Deshmukh
Doesnt everyone just look soo super hot??

Also in this movie, that are not mentioned above are:
- Boman Irani (hilariousssss comedian!!)
- Randhir Kapoor
- Chunky Pandey
- Malaika Arora
- Jacqueline Fernandez

Really big cast right?? I can only pray that this isnt a huge flop! *cross your fingers!*

I cant believe how amazing Ritesh Deshmukh's body is in this film!! Have you guys got a chance to see? Because it's definately worth checking out.

Here's another Wallpaper from the film.

Love Love LOVE all the different shades of blue in this picture! An awesome style idea!!

Here's a synopsis of the film if you haven't already read about it:

Houseful is a romantic comedy entertainer which narrates the story of Aarush - the world's unluckiest man. Being jinxed, he believes his bad luck can vanish if he finds true love. In this quest for true love how one lie leads to another and how different people from different walks of life come together adding even more confusion to this hilarious comedy of errors resulting in total chaos and mayhem forms the crux of the story. The line which Deepika tells Akshay in the film "Jis jhooth se kissi ka ghar basta ho, voh jhooth jhooth nahin hota", pretty much sums up the essence of the film.

Sounds pretty funny to me... *please god dont let me be wrong*  ..i really hope this one lives up to its expectations!  If you havent already done so, check out the trailer too when you get a chance.

Happy Birthday Aamir Khan!

I just haddddd to take out the time and wish one of THE best bollywood actors everrrrr a very, very Happy Birthday!!

*** HAPPY BIRTHDAY AAMIR KHAN!! ***
May you have a wonderful day and many many many more successful years ahead!! God bless.

Lakme Fashion Week 2010

I absolutely LOVE Lakme Fashion Week! The BEST designers and their best collections of the year. I just hadddd to share these pictures with you guys. I think Bipasha Basu is one of the prettiest women in Bollywood. And she totallyy rocked this look.

Isnt she just stunning!? I absolutely love love love this shade of yellow and the sari design is just amazing! The jewelry is just as beautiful and compliments the whole look.
Bipasha Basu the showstopper for the infamous RockyS.
(Click the pictures if you want to see a bigger view)

I can wait to see the showstoppers and the rest of the designs for the upcoming collections this week!

Konvict in Mumbai

Dont know if you guys already heard, but Akon is going to be in Mumbai on Monday, March 8, 2009. Crazy right? Well rumor has it, he's going to be recording a song for Vishal-Shekhar for Anubhav Sinha's upcoming film, Ra. 1.  He's only planning to be in town for 2 days and then quietly slipping away. This isnt the 1st time he's had a runaround with bollywood. He previously recorded a song in the US with Aadesh Srivastav. I'm actually looking forward to hearing the song and seeing what they can come up with since Akon has a really different voice. They even made a music video. Hopefully it's a good one, and not like Singh is Kinng. (I think that video and song with Snoop Dogg was horrible)

I'm not quite sure how much I like Hollywood meeting Bollywood though, and all the hindi music with english parts. To me sometimes it really ruins a song and sometimes it can improve one. But either way, Bollywood should stick with its own roots. Come on Bollywood, what happened to being original? Why is everyong trying so hard to be western? You dont see all of Hollywood trying to convert into Bollywood. What do you guys think? Do you like the english lines in the hindi music?

Hey yall! So I'm finally back into the blogging world! I know being busy is no excuse, butttt I'm definately going to try my best to stay on top of things. I decided to delete all of my old posts from last year. If there was a movie/music review that I did and you really liked or wanted to read and never got the chance, leave me a comment and i'll email it to you or repost it here. I have them all saved on my computer.

Anyways, hope everyone has been doing good!
